author site for Bear Teddington (2025)
For this latest version of the site, I wanted to lean into the crossover of fantasy and horror without being so dark; the light, clean palette still brings in pieces of the cosmic, witchy, and horror common in my writing. There's nothing overtly spooky about the design, but the main image is a foggy river surrounded by dead trees; it's a good indicator of the kind of writing I gravitate towards.
The fonts are a blend of the whimsical and the harsh; again, it's blending the aesthetics of fantasy with the harsh, wrought-iron of horror.
I wrote all of the copy on this site, including the summaries for the short stories and the novels. I wanted to keep an approachable vibe that gave an idea of the voice readers could expect from my fiction.

JackDeWitt.com
author site for Jack DeWitt (2025)
Because DeWitt's novels are very inspired by noir and take place in the early 50s, I wanted to work in the noir aesthetic into the design. The deep blacks and light grays create the kind of contrast you'd see in a Marlowe film; the smoke, especially in the text mask for NOIR IS DARK in the main page, allude to the chain smoking of the era and also to the misty nights in the seedy cities. DeWitt's name is overlaid on some shapes that reminded me of art deco windows in a New York skyscraper—you're looking through windows to see DeWitt's name the same way the characters look through a window to see a murder most foul.
I chose fonts that looked vintage, blocky, and strong. They have that 1940s feel to complement the whole design.
I edited the copy provided by the client for the books and the about section, and the rest of the copy I wrote for him, including the non-essay blog posts (which I copyedited).

ACoffman.com
author site for A. Coffman (2021)
The Pillars of Creation series is full of myth, D&D references, magic, and universe-hopping; I wanted to create a vibe that reflected the magic/witchy vibes inherent in the client's style and influence as a writer. I blended simple white backgrounds with dark images to create a sense of horror and magic without overwhelming the viewer; I especially focused on building collages with elements found in the novels themselves—the eyes of a watchful seraph or an overbearing evil, the inky void, luna moths, and flowers to show life despite the undead nature of the protagonist.
I wanted to focus on the client's deep world building by emphasizing the codex entries for the characters and settings as a way to introduce concepts and unfamiliar locations important to the series.
Including the descriptions for the books, I wrote all the copy.
