Copyedits

This is the stage after the story is nailed down, line edits have punched up the impact of each page, paragraph, sentence, and word, and now we're looking for technical correctness. This is one of the last steps in the editing process!

Rather than creative style, we'll focus on the grammatical style. The goal isn't to make your novel read like a textbook, but to make sure there's no overt mistakes. Building consistency improves readability and makes your work look that much more professional.

What to Expect

I'll consult the 2017 Chicago Manual of Style with some in-house modifications to comb through every word of your manuscript, correcting errors down to the smallest commas. Using Word's track changes feature, I'll send your manuscript back with the suggested changes for you to review. I use grammar check tools to assist in catching errors, but I do not use AI and never will.

Turnaround

Typically, you should expect an annotated copy of your draft with in-text comments in 4 to 5 weeks. (Please note, the turnaround time will depend on the length of your manuscript, how intensive the edits required, and if you have a specific focus in mind.)

Pricing & Deposits

Light edits: $0.0059/word

Medium edits: $0.012/word

Heavy edits: $0.017/word

At the time of booking, I will send a PayPal invoice with 15% due up front. The rest of the balance should be paid at the time of the edit's completion, to be paid before the edited manuscript is sent. Payment plans are available, but only if agreed upon before the invoice is sent.
